HARTFORD/BLOOMFIELD, CT — The Hartford Animal Shelter is making an urgent appeal for help after announcing that the facility is full.
"Our shelter is full," the Hartford Animal Shelter, which partners with the Hartford Police Department, said in a social media post Monday.
The shelter urged residents to share its posts about dogs currently housed at the facility in hopes of finding them homes.
Shelter officials also asked people not to leave inquiries in the comments beneath individual dog photos, saying staff members are unable to monitor every comment.
The shelter is located at 120 Rescue Lane in Bloomfield and provides animal control services for Hartford through its partnership with the Hartford Police Department.
The latest appeal comes months after the shelter issued a similar warning about its available space.
At the end of May, the shelter said it had reached about 90% of its capacity and appealed to the public for help.
Residents can follow the Hartford Animal Shelter's social media page for information and photos of dogs currently available, and are being encouraged to share those posts to help reach potential adopters.
People who are seriously interested in a dog are being asked to call 860-757-4395 and leave a message or send a private message to the shelter's social media page.
