HARTFORD, CT — Orthopedic Associates of Hartford has added four fellowship-trained physicians specializing in areas ranging from sports injuries and fractures to joint replacement and hand surgery.
The practice announced the addition of Dr. Nicholas J. Bellas, Dr. Colin J. Burgess, Dr. Barrett B. Torre and Dr. Robert L. Zondervan to its physician team.
The four doctors will expand the practice's ability to treat orthopedic injuries and conditions across its network of locations in central Connecticut, according to Orthopedic Associates of Hartford.
Bellas is an orthopedic trauma surgeon specializing in fractures, including pelvic and acetabular injuries, fragility fractures, and fractures occurring around orthopedic implants.
He also treats fractures that have failed to heal properly.
Bellas completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Connecticut and an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Denver Health.
Burgess specializes in orthopedic sports medicine and treats conditions affecting the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle.
His work includes shoulder and knee surgery, rotator cuff repair, ligament reconstruction, meniscus repair, and partial and total joint replacement.
He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Northwell Health and the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell before completing an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at Orthopaedic Research of Virginia.
Torre specializes in hip and knee replacement, including primary and complex procedures.
His areas of expertise include anterior and posterior hip replacement, partial and total knee replacement, robotic-assisted procedures, and revision surgery.
After completing his orthopedic surgery residency at UConn, Torre completed an adult reconstruction fellowship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
Zondervan specializes in surgery involving the hand and upper extremities, treating conditions affecting the hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow.
His work includes treatment of fractures, tendon and ligament injuries, nerve compression, arthritis, sports injuries and work-related conditions.
Zondervan completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Michigan State University, where he served as chief resident, followed by a hand surgery fellowship at UConn.
He also has a background in research involving fracture healing and musculoskeletal biology.

It also operates outpatient surgery centers in Hartford, Glastonbury and Rocky Hill, an MRI center in Farmington and orthopedic urgent care centers in Farmington and Glastonbury.
