Manchester Man Killed In I-84 Crash In East Hartford: Police (patch.com) — A deadly rollover crash on I-84 west near Exit 57 in East Hartford sent a 55-year-old Manchester driver to Hartford Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. State police from Troop H in Hartford are still investigating and are asking anyone who was in the area or has dashcam footage to come forward to help piece together what happened.
2. Paralyzed Hartford warehouse worker asks CT Supreme Court to revive record verdict (hartfordbusiness.com subscription) — A Hartford warehouse worker paralyzed in a 2017 accident is asking Connecticut's Supreme Court to restore a dramatically reduced $100 million jury verdict against lighting company Signify. The case could clarify when companies are responsible for unsafe shipments, after an appeals court ruled Signify could not have reasonably anticipated the accident that injured him.
3. POLISH HERITAGE FESTIVAL Will Present World Premieres and Classical Masterworks (broadwayworld.com) — Hartford music lovers can catch two Polish Heritage Festival concerts this fall, including a world premiere at the Cathedral of St. Joseph and another program at First Presbyterian Church of Hartford. The series launches Connecticut Virtuosi's 2026–27 season, which also brings major opera productions and holiday and Beethoven concerts to Hartford and nearby cities. 4. UConn's Melissa Manning Wins 2026 NACADA Region 1 Advising Excellence Award (news-usa.today) — Students at UConn's Hartford campus are being guided by an award-winning advisor, as Director of Advising Melissa Manning has earned the 2026 NACADA Region 1 Advising Excellence Award. Colleagues credit her student-centered leadership and focus on belonging, while the university highlights how her work supports its long-term plan for holistic, culturally competent advising.
5. Attorney General Tong Leads Multistate Settlement with LabCorp (ct.gov) — From Hartford, Attorney General William Tong announced a $2.3 million multistate settlement with Labcorp over a 2019 data breach at its debt collector that exposed patient information, including 43,666 Connecticut residents. The deal brings new vendor-security requirements, an outside security assessor, and about $81,000 to Connecticut, reinforcing that companies must safeguard medical and personal data they share with contractors.
