HARTFORD, CT — Families in Hartford's Clay Arsenal neighborhood are invited to celebrate Halloween on Friday, Oct. 30, with an evening of trick-or-treating, a neighborhood stroll, and an outdoor movie screening.
The 'Clay Arsenal Halloween Spook and Stroll,' organized by the Clay Arsenal Community Development Corporation (CACDC) and community partners, will begin at 6 p.m. at the Wilson-Gray YMCA, 444 Albany Ave.
The event is intended to bring children, families, and neighbors together while encouraging community participation and neighborhood pride.
Organizers said the celebration will provide local children with opportunities to enjoy Halloween activities and create memories with family and friends.
The evening will include Halloween treats at the YMCA, a neighborhood walk to Lozada Park, and a screening of the animated Disney-Pixar film Coco.
CACDC is encouraging residents along Fairmount Street and Center Street to participate in the celebration, even if they do not join the neighborhood walk.
Residents are invited to decorate their homes, wear Halloween costumes, turn on porch lights, and distribute candy to children participating in the stroll.
Organizers said residents can also participate by greeting families as they pass through the neighborhood.
The event is part of CACDC's efforts to strengthen neighborhood connections and provide activities for children and families in Clay Arsenal.
The organization emphasized that children in the neighborhood should have opportunities to enjoy community celebrations and positive childhood experiences.
The Hartford Police Department and Hartford Proud will help lead the Halloween procession from the Wilson-Gray YMCA to Lozada Park.
CACDC thanked both organizations for their involvement in coordinating the neighborhood celebration.
The event will conclude with the outdoor screening of Coco, a family-friendly animated film centered on family, music, and remembrance.
Organizers said the Halloween celebration reflects their commitment to creating welcoming community activities and strengthening relationships among Clay Arsenal residents.
