Three men face federal charges after investigators uncovered an alleged Hartford drug trafficking operation involving fentanyl and cocaine.

HARTFORD, CT — Three men have been indicted on federal drug trafficking charges after investigators uncovered an alleged Hartford-based operation that distributed large quantities of fentanyl and cocaine throughout Connecticut and surrounding states, federal authorities announced Tuesday.

The defendants are Denny Guzman, 34, of Hartford; Nelson Torres, 50, of Hartford; and Domingo Heredia-Suarez, also known as Daniel Heredia Suarez, 57, a citizen of the Dominican Republic.

According to U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan and Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent in Charge Jarod Forget, investigators identified the three men as participants in a drug trafficking organization that used two Hartford properties to receive, store, process, and package narcotics.

The investigation centered on suspicious packages delivered to Torres' residence on Madison Street in Hartford.

Federal authorities allege the packages were subsequently transported to a location on Homestead Avenue, which the organization used to store and prepare drugs for distribution.

On Aug. 30, 2026, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service intercepted a package addressed to Torres' residence containing approximately two kilograms of cocaine, according to federal prosecutors.

Investigators continued monitoring the suspected operation.

On Oct. 9, authorities observed another package being delivered to Torres' Madison Street residence, according to court documents.

Investigators subsequently saw Guzman, Torres and Heredia-Suarez arrive at the Homestead Avenue location with the package, prosecutors said.

The three men were arrested that day.

During a search of the Homestead Avenue property, investigators discovered a kilogram brick of fentanyl, narcotics processing materials, and a firearm, according to federal authorities.

A separate search of Torres' residence uncovered a handgun.

Investigators also found Guzman in possession of a handgun when he was arrested, prosecutors said.

Federal Indictment And Potential Penalties

A federal grand jury in Hartford returned an indictment Oct. 20 charging all three defendants with:

Each charge carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of 10 years and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment if convicted.

Guzman faces an additional charge of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

That offense carries a mandatory consecutive prison sentence of at least five years upon conviction.

All three defendants appeared Tuesday, Nov. 3, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert A. Richardson in Hartford and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Torres and Heredia-Suarez remain detained, while Guzman was released on a $100,000 bond.
