Footage provide by police Tuesday showed the 2005 Suburu Forester being driven by Frey losing control, then slamming sideways into the rear of the police vehicle.

Frey and a passenger from Avon were not hurt in the accident, according to police.

State police trooper Sarah O. Lawton, 24, of Middletown, was taken to Hartford Hospital for suspected minor injuries.

Lawton was inside her 2016 Ford Taurus state police cruiser blocking the highway to tend to an accident involving a 2015 Ford Explorer being driven by a 33-year-old New Britain woman.

According to the accident report, the Suburu being driven by Frey was traveling in the center lane of the highway and lost control rounding a curve.

This prompted the Suburu to hit the back of the stopped police vehicle, which then slammed into the then-unoccupied Ford Explorer.

All three vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
