Bloomfield Girls Win, Boys Second at Indoor Track Meet
The CIAC indoor track and field championships were conducted Thursday through Saturday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

NEW HAVEN, CT — For the ninth straight year, girls from Bloomfield High School dominated the competition at the CIAC Class S indoor track and field championships at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.
The Warhawks compiled 84 points to easily outdistance runnerup Immaculate, which had 61. On the boys' side, Bloomfield placed second with 54 points, just behind Derby's 62.
Jillian Mars established a new Class S meet record in the 600 meters, winning in a time of 1:37.49. She also won the 300 meters in 41 seconds, and anchored the winning 4 x 400 relay team with Shenequa Campbell, Jahleah Harris and Jahlia Banton. Justyce Wilson won the shot put with a heave of 37 feet, 8.5 inches.

For the boys, Jaylon Nealy won the 55 meter dash in 6.61 seconds, and was a member of the victorious 4 x 200 relay team with Shemar Stewart, Kamren Watkins-Hunter and Sean Dixon-Bode.
The Hartford Public High School boys 4 x 200 relay team of Malcolm Grate, Leon Campbell, Andre Valentine and Zinodene Stewart won the Class L competition. Benedicte Alula won the girls shot put with a throw of 35 feet, 8 inches, while five other Owls were placewinners at that event.

East Hartford had five placewinners in Class LL, while in the Class S competition, University, MLC and Weaver each had two placewinners and Classical Magnet had one.
