HARTFORD, CONN. Real Art Ways presents a book launch and reading celebrating the publication of North Sun by Trinity College Creative Writing professor and author Ethan Rutherford. The book will be published on March 11. The event will be held on Friday, March 14, at 6:30 pm. Real Art Ways is located at 56 Arbor Street in Hartford, CT 06106.
Two years ago, Ethan Rutherford came to the 56 Arbor building and rented a unit on the 4th floor to write a book. This event celebrates the launch of that book - his first novel, North Sun or The Voyage of the Whaleship Esther.

ABOUT THE BOOK
Setting out from New Bedford in 1878, the crew of the Esther is confident the sea will be theirs. In addition to cruising the Pacific for whales, they intend to hunt the teeming northern grounds before the ice closes. As they sail to their final destination in the Chukchi Sea, where their captain, Arnold Lovejoy, has an urgent directive of his own to attend to, their encounters with the natural world become more brutal, harrowing, ghostly, and strange.
With one foot firmly planted in the traditional sea-voyage narrative and another in a blazing mythos of its own, this debut novel looks unsparingly at the cost of environmental exploitation and predation. In doing so, it feverishly sings not only of the past but of the present and future.
