Bulk Trash Collects In Hartford Streets After Policy Change
The city is having a problem with bulky trash collecting in streets.

HARTFORD, CT — Couches, mattresses and other bulk waste is collecting in city streets after a policy change requiring appointments for bulk pick-up.
The city's old policy was to collect oversized items on a weekly basis with no appointment. To save money it switched to an appointment-only system where residents can put up to five bulk items out twice per year for free and $75 after that, according to the Hartford Courant.
Mayor Luke Bronin has directed public works crews to pick up bulk trash wherever they see it to clean the appearance of the city.
