Hartford Pride Center Hosts Send-Off for Miss Connecticut 2026 Christa Steiner
The Hartford Pride Center and community partners invite Connecticut residents to a special celebration honoring Christa Steiner, Miss Connecticut 2026, as she prepares to compete for the title of Miss America.
Christa has courageously shared her journey through undiagnosed bipolar disorder, addiction, isolation, and recovery. Today, she uses her statewide platform to advocate for mental health awareness, sobriety, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and the life-changing power of supportive communities.
This special Hartford-area event reflects the Hartford Pride Center’s commitment to affirming care, healing, and empowering LGBTQ+ people to build healthy, fulfilling lives.
Tickets are $25 and include food, drinks, and entertainment. Those unable to attend can still support Christa’s Miss America journey by making a donation in increments of $5.
Join us in celebrating Miss Connecticut 2026 and sending Christa to the Miss America pageant with the support of her Connecticut community!

The POSSM are the three-time Best of Hartford winners and co-creators of the Hartbeat Music Festival. Their sound is an energetic yet soulful version of indie rock with the Hartford Courant stating, “The band’s brand of pop-infused rock can be downright infectious”. The band has been nominated by The New England Music Awards as Best Musical ACT in CT, had a local best selling IPA named after them, and had their original song Tidal Wave named the CTNOW.com song of the year, and BarRated Radio’s “local song of the decade”. The Michael Carabello Quintet is a collective of musicians with deep roots in black American music (jazz) and the musical culture of Hartford. The band draws inspiration from artists and bands such as Jackie McLean’s Dynasty Band, Herbie Hancock’s Head Hunters, Marc Cary’s Focus Trio, Ahmad Jamal Trio, and Wayne Shorter’s Weather Report. This band draws musical knowledge from the masters of the music of Bebop, Hardbop, and Postbop and modernizes it with musical styles and technology of today. The Band consists of: Michael Carabello – Keyboards, Jonathon Barber- Drums, Matt Dwonszyk- Bass, Tony Davis- Guitar, and Jordan Young- Alto Saxophone.

Join Joe Lenoce of Connecticut Valley Mycological Society in search of mushrooms at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Joe will discuss the basic types of fungi, where to find them, and proper methods of collecting. Participants will then head out to search for mushrooms in the ornamental foreground.
The program concludes with Joe reviewing documentation resources while identifying any fungi collected.
Appropriate shoes and basket or paper bag for collecting recommended.
