On Campus - Greater Hartford College Students

GREATER HARTFORD, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Eastern Connecticut State University student Freddy Cruz of East Hartford was among the honorees at Eastern's 2018 Cesar Chavez Distinguished Service Awards ceremony on April 18. Cruz, a senior, majors in Business Administration and Business Information Systems. Among his involvements, Cruz is the president of the Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS), a resident assistant (RA) of four years and a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
• The Creative Writing Club at Eastern Connecticut State University published its annual literary journal, "Eastern Exposure," this spring. The student-produced journal showcases student writers and artists. Among the students featured in the 2018 edition is Hason Peart of Hartford, who majors in Political Science. He is featured in the poetry section of the journal with a piece titled "Raincloud."
• The Communication Department at Eastern Connecticut State University held its annual Celebration of Excellence on April 19. During the event, students were inducted into the communication honor society, Lambda Pi Eta, and awards were given for excellence in different areas of the communication field.
  Among the inductees and award winners were Jenfrey Florentino of East Hartford, who wasinducted into the honor society, and was also selected to receive an award for Excellence in Television at Eastern TV; and Shevane Pearson of Hartford. who was inducted into the honor society.
