Canterbury Man Charged After Refusing To Put On Mask, Fleeing
A Canterbury man is facing charges after he refused to put on a mask at a grocery store, then ran from police, according to a report.
CANTERBURY, CT — A Canterbury man was charged on accusations that he wasn't wearing a mask in a grocery store and then ran from a state trooper, The Courant reported. Christopher Burns, 30, of Hanover Road in Canterbury, was charged with first-degree criminal trespass, interfering with an officer, and second-degree breach of peace.
A state trooper was called to Better Val U supermarkets at 4 N. Canterbury Road at about 5:20 p.m. Sunday on a report that a customer wouldn't put on his face mask and refused to leave the store, according to the Courant.
Burns' bond was set at $2,500 and he is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 6.
