Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation Offers New Gilded Age Walking Tour

Join Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 10:00 am for the guided tour, Hartford in the Gilded Age.

The Gilded Age, between 1870 and 1900, gets its name from the title of the popular book by Hartford residents Mark Twain and Charles Dudley Warner.

During the Gilded Age, the U. S. saw unprecedented economic, industrial, and population growth. And the rise of rich industrial cities including Hartford.

The walking tour highlights examples of wealth and materialism, a main theme of the novel. And will also explore other topics such as industrialization, immigration, and philanthropy prevalent during the time period.

Cedar Hill Cemetery is located at 453 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford. The tour begins at the flagpole at the end of the entrance drive.
