Cedar Hill Receives CT Cultural Fund Grant

Connecticut Humanities, the statewide, nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, has awarded Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation a $14,100 CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant (CTCFOSG).

The grant will help Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation share the rich heritage of the historic cemetery and those laid to rest in its inspired landscape with the public. The Foundation looks forward to expanding its onsite programming, with the goal of returning to and exceeding pre-pandemic participation.

Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation is thrilled to receive a Connecticut Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant from CT Humanities. Foundation Director Beverly Lucas noted “the generous award allows Cedar Hill to explore new opportunities to reach and engage with audiences. Opportunities that would not be possible without this critical funding.”

Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation was one of 624 organizations in Connecticut that was awarded CT Cultural Fund support totaling $16M from CT Humanities. The CTCFOSG are part of $30.7M of support allocated to arts, humanities, and cultural nonprofits through CT Humanities over the next two years by the CT General Assembly and approved by Governor Ned Lamont. The CTCFOSG will assist organizations as they recover from the pandemic and maintain and grow their ability to serve their community and the public.

This grant was administered by CT Humanities, with funding provided by the Connecticut State Department of Economic and Community Development/Connecticut Office of the Arts from the Connecticut State Legislature.

Established in 1864, Cedar Hill is an American rural cemetery encompassing 270 acres of landscaped woodlands, waterways, and memorial grounds. Cedar Hill Cemetery is open 365 days a year from sunrise to sunset. Visitors interested in taking a self-guided tour of the grounds can pick up a map at the information box inside the entrance or in the Cemetery office.
