Massive Hartford Crash Finally Cleared Amid Black Ice Mess: UPDATE

Multiple tractor-trailers and other vehicles were involved in the Hartford crash early Wednesday due to black ice.

GREATER HARTFORD, CT — Multiple major highways in Greater Hartford have finally reopened on Wednesday morning after multiple accidents due to black ice conditions.

According to the state Department of Transportation, highways in Hartford and East Hartford were closed and/or impacted by the wrecks.

In Hartford, Interstate 91 South was closed between exits 30 and 29a because of a multiple-tractor-trailer accident that also included several other vehicles.

That accident was first reported at 4:26 a.m., and vt 8 a.m., it was no longer listed on the DOT's incident report.

Also, Interstate 84 East's Exit 52 ramp to Interstate 91 South was closed because of an accident, according to the DOT.

That situation was first reported at 5:58 a.m., and it is also no longer listed on the DOT's incident report.

WFSB Channel 3 reported that multiple tractor-trailers and vehicles (eight total) were involved, with minor injuries reported and one of the tractor-trailers being a propane tanker truck.

Meanwhile, Route 15 North in East Hartford was closed between Exit 91 and the end of that highway due to an accident, but it has now reopened.

That crash was first reported at 5:07 a.m., and it is now no longer listed on the DOT's incident report.
