1-Year-Old Bitten By Dog Dies In East Hartford: Police: UPDATE

The incident happened at a residence on Fuller Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — A 1-year-old boy was killed after it was bitten several times by a dog at an East Hartford residence, police said Wednesday evening.

According to the East Hartford Police Department, responders were called to a home on Fuller Avenue just after 3 p.m. and discovered the 1-year-old was bitten "several times by a dog."

Police and firefighters on the scene performed lifesaving measures the the child was rushed to an area hospital by ambulance.

"Despite the valiant efforts of medical professionals, the child succumbed to his injuries," wrote the EHPD in a release Wednesday evening.

Police said the incident is currently under investigation and two dogs have been removed from the residence and are being quarantined, with one of the dogs seen as the primary aggressor.

The EHPD said it is not releasing the identity of the 1-year-old.

"Out of respect for the family's privacy and in consideration of the sensitivity of this matter, we are not releasing the child’s name," wrote police.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones as they mourn their loss. May they find solace and strength during this challenging time."
