HARTFORD, CT — The Connecticut Children's Medical Center has furloughed 400 workers because of the outbreak of the new coronavirus, NBC Connecticut has reported.
The pandemic has caused elective and other surgeries to be delayed and the number of patients to decline, officials said.
The 60-day furloughs will affect about 14 percent of the system’s workforce of 2,800. The decline in patient volume has declined about fifty percent, costing the medical center between $7.5 and $9 million a month, according to NBC.
