Crashes On On I-84 In East Hartford Cleared: UPDATE

EAST HARTFORD, CT — A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 in East Hartford is causing major traffic problems for Friday afternoon commuters, according to the state Department of Transportation, but it is now cleared.

The DOT reported a two-vehicle accident on I-84 West between exits 59 and 58, resulting in the left lane being closed.

That accident was first reported at 2:56 p.m. and it now no longer listed on the DOT's incident report.

Also cleared is a separate crash or part of this crash.

The DOT reported that accident as a single-vehicle wreck nearby on I-84 West between exits 59 and 58, causing the left shoulder to be closed.

That accident was first reported at 2:54 p.m. and it is also no longer listed on the DOT's incident report.

The DOT said traffic was backed up 2.4 miles in that area in East Hartford and into Hartford.
