CTNG Soldiers and Airmen return home from deployment
The service members were deployed to the SOUTHCOM and CENTCOM areas of responsibility.

WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. – More than 100 Soldiers assigned to the 643rd Military Police Company, based out of Westbrook, Connecticut, returned to Connecticut following a nearly year-long deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and demobilization period in Texas, Jan. 30, 2020. The unit was deployed early spring 2019 to support a variety of Military Police functions.
Additionally, members of 103rd Security Forces Squadron, Connecticut Air National Guard, returned to Connecticut today following their approximately six month deployment to the Middle East supporting Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Resolute Support.
“We are so happy to welcome home our Soldiers and Airmen, members of our team, but nothing can match the excitement of their family, friends, and loved-ones,” Maj. Gen. Francis Evon, adjutant general of the Connecticut National Guard said. “We also thank the community who supported them, sent care packages, and reached out while they were gone. Without our community and our employers’ support it makes our jobs much more difficult, to them we cannot say thank you enough.”

Regarding the 643rd Military Police Company, "It was an honor to visit the 643rd during the holiday season to learn more about their operations and tell them 'thank you' on behalf of our state," Governor Ned Lamont said. "Deployment means many months away from families, friends, and personal responsibilities. Their service is appreciated, and we enthusiastically welcome them home after a job well done."
Operation Inherent Resolve is the mission to militarily defeat ISIS in the Combined Joint Operations Area in order to enable whole-of-coalition governmental actions to increase regional stability.

Resolute Support is a NATO-led mission to train, advise and assist the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces and institutions. The mission was launched on Jan. 1, 2015 immediately following the stand-down of the International Security Assistance Force.
