Death Of Suspect In Hartford Police Custody Under Investigation

The 49-year-old woman died on Sunday, according to authorities.

HARTFORD, CT — The state Office of Inspector General is investigating the death of a 49-year-old Hartford woman, who was in the custody of the Hartford Police Department when she died on Sunday.

Linda Praylow had been arrested by police on Friday on two outstanding warrants, and was being held on court-set bonds totaling $20,000.

"On Sunday, April 7, 2024, during the early morning hours, Praylow was discovered
unresponsive in her cell," Inspector General Robert Devlin, Jr. wrote in a statement. "Hartford Police Department rendered immediate medical aid, and American Medical Response transported her to Saint Francis Hospital. During transport, she had no pulse. She was later pronounced deceased at the hospital."

As of Wednesday, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has not determined the cause
and manner of death, according to Devlin.

In addition to the Inspector General's office, the Connecticut State Police Central District Major
Crime Squad is also involved in the ongoing investigation.
