HARTFORD, CT — For the first time, all eight boys and girls high school soccer championship matches will be contested this fall at Dillon Stadium in Hartford, home of the Hartford Athletic of the USL Championship.

Hartford Athletic and the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) announced Monday the eight finals will take place the weekend of Nov. 20-21, with four championship contests scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 20 and four more on Sunday, Nov. 21.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, no state soccer tournaments were conducted in 2020. Dillon Stadium hosted four championship games in 2019, with the other four taking place at Veterans Stadium in New Britain. In the two years prior to that, a variety of host venues were used, including Veterans Stadium, Middletown High School, West Haven High School and Municipal Stadium in Waterbury.

"We are happy to announce that Dillon Stadium will host all eight boys and girls soccer state championship games this year," CIAC Associate Executive Director Gregg Simon said. "When we used Dillon Stadium for four state championship games in 2019, there was such a tremendous vibe. The kids come out of the locker room, into the tunnel, out on to the field, there's nothing quite like playing in a professional soccer stadium."

Joe Calafiore, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Strategy for Hartford Athletic., said, "Hartford Athletic is once again excited to host the CIAC soccer state championships at Dillon Stadium. Dillon Stadium has once again become a hub for our community and serves as the perfect jewel event venue for the state championships. Thank you to the CIAC for their partnership, and we cannot wait to see Connecticut’s top high school soccer programs take the field at Dillon in November."
