Don’t Miss the RSCO School Choice Fair, Sat., March 21

The Connecticut State Department of Education’s Greater Hartford Regional School Choice Office (RSCO) will host its last RSCO School Choice Fair for the 2026-27 school year to help families navigate the waitlist and late application process for Greater Hartford Region magnets, Open Choice and technical high schools.

The fair follows first round placement notifications for all three programs, but families can learn more about how to navigate waitlists, which includes the option to add, remove and/or change the rank order of schools, and how to apply during the late application period, which opens on a limited basis the week of March 9.

Representatives from RSCO, as well as schools and districts, will be available to answer questions about process and timelines, programs, transportation, athletics, extracurricular activities and more.

This free, family-friendly event will include light snacks, activities and giveaways while supplies last.

Through the RSCO school choice application, Connecticut families with students entering PK-12 can apply to free public schools in the Greater Hartford Region that fit their child’s unique skills, interests and passions, including:

• 40+ magnet schools with specialized themes incorporated into the core curriculum (e.g., S.T.E.M., visual & performing arts, Montessori)
• 26 Open Choice districts and schools outside their town of residence; and
• 3 Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) Hartford region technical high schools.
