From Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital: Beginning this month, Dr. Robert Krug, president of Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Of New England, will take on a national leadership role in the field of rehabilitation medicine. This past fall, Dr. Krug was elected as the incoming Chairman of the Board of Directors for the American Medical Rehabilitation Provider’s Association (AMRPA), whose work is centered on transforming lives through access to the highest quality of medical rehabilitation care.

“It is an honor to be elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors for AMRPA,” said Krug. “This
organization’s mission is directly in line with ours at Mount Sinai—to be leaders in advancing the field of medical rehabilitation through advocacy, education, and the promotion of access to care.”

Krug has been the Vice Chairman of the AMRPA Board of Directors since 2018 and will officially move to the office of chair, beginning in 2020. As chair, some of Krug’s responsibilities will be to develop an organization plan for AMRPA, to ensure that decisions by the board of directors are carried out, to monitor the organizations policies and procedures, and to appoint committee chairs and members.

“I’m proud and privileged to be able to continue working alongside the exceptional team that makes up the AMRPA Board of Directors, including a number of CEOs and other leaders from some of the top rehabilitation hospitals and organizations in the country,” said Krug.

"In Dr. Krug’s time as Vice Chairman of AMRPA’s Board of Directors, he contributed greatly to our association’s goals, setting new standards of excellence and innovating along the way. We have no doubt that as chairman he will perform his duties with this same level of commitment and exceed our expectations of someone befitting this important position," said AMRPA Executive Director John Ferraro.

No stranger to leadership roles, Krug is currently the president and medical director of Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, chief physician for rehabilitation medicine at Saint Francis Hospital, and medical director for PM&R Services at the Mandell Center for Multiple Sclerosis. Krug is also the current William and Barbara Weldon chair and director of the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine's Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine and Center for U.S. Veterans Rehabilitation at Quinnipiac University.

AMRPA is the only national voluntary trade association representing more than 650 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and units, hospital outpatient departments, as well as skilled nursing facilities. AMRPA members provide rehabilitation services across multiple health care settings to help patients maximize their health, functional skills, independence, and participation in society so they can return to home, work or an active retirement.
