HARTFORD, CT — An off-duty Hartford firefighter and a neighbor are being credited with helping save a woman who was being attacked by a pair of dogs Tuesday morning, NBC Connecticut reported.
The attack took place on Flatbush Avenue around 5 a.m., when firefighter Nicole Mercado ran down the street after hearing a woman screaming. She found the woman being gnawed on by a pair of pit bulls and tried getting them away by hitting them with a metal bat.
