East Hartford Earns Votes in Latest Weekly Baseball Poll

The Hornets won 14 of their first 18 contests to rank among the top 20 high school teams in Connecticut.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — Despite a rough stretch late in the regular season, the baseball team from East Hartford High School collected some support from voters in the latest weekly poll of state sports media.

The Hornets (14-4) are slated to conclude their regular season schedule Tuesday evening at Dunkin Donuts Park in Hartford against CCC rival Windsor.

Fairfield Prep (19-1) was once again the unanimous top pick of voters.

Here are the top 10 ranked teams in Connecticut, as well as all other programs receiving votes, with records through Sunday, May 20.

    2. Staples (15-4)
    2. Windsor (16-2)
    4. Holy Cross (18-2)
    5. South Windsor (16-2)
    6. Ridgefield (16-4)
    7. Waterford (15-4)
    7. Daniel Hand (15-4)
    9. Cheshire (15-4)
    10. North Haven (15-3)

Also receiving votes: Amity Regional (14-5), Newtown (15-4), Granby Memorial (17-2), Shepaug Valley (18-1), Haddam-Killingworth (12-2), East Hartford (14-4), Wolcott (17-3), Montville (14-5), Darien (14-6), Plainfield (15-4).
