Florida Man Charged In 2022 Fatal Crash In Hartford

The 25-year-old is facing manslaughter, among other charges, related to the crash on Route 15 more than a year ago.

HARTFORD, CT — A Florida man has been charged with manslaughter more than a year after a fatal crash on a Hartford highway offramp back in June 2022.

Connecticut State Police said Wednesday Dashon E. Ellison-Moss, 25, of Dasoto Parkway, Sarasota, Fla., was charged with reckless driving; following too closely; second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle; misconduct with a motor vehicle; first-degree reckless endangerment; illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs; and following too close.

The DUI charge was served more than a year ago, with the remaining charges being added afterward.

Police said Ellison-Moss turned himself into the state police's Troop H barracks in Hartford on an active arrest warrant.

He was to appear in court later Wednesday.

According to the accident report, Ellison-Moss was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Malibu that struck the back of a 2022 Spyder Roadster on the Route 15 southbound Exit 86 offramp onto I-91.

Police said the suspect's car went over the top of the roadster, which is a three-wheel vehicle that resembles a motorcycle.

The crash claimed the life of a 34-year-old New Britain man.
