Legendary CT Football Coach To Deliver Pot Instead Of Titles

The championship-winning gridiron coach's new company has been approved to be Connecticut's first legal cannabis delivery service.

GREATER HARTFORD, CT — When he was on top of the Connecticut high school football coaching pyramid in the late 1990s/early 2000s, Jack Cochran delivered state titles to his employers.

Now retired from coaching, a company led by Cochran will soon be delivering something else — pot.

And while Cochran's past also includes more than a fair share of controversy, this endeavor is a byproduct of Connecticut's legalization of recreational marijuana.

Recently, Cochran's "Green Coach Delivery" company was approved to be a legal delivery service for adult-use cannabis products.

When it starts business May 25, "Green Coach Delivery" will serve Hartford County first, according to a company announcement.

If all goes well, the delivery range will eventually expand into Fairfield, New Haven, New London, Windham and Litchfield counties.

."We are excited to be the first adult-use cannabis delivery service in Connecticut," said Cochran. "Our team is committed to providing fast and efficient deliveries while maintaining the highest standards of social responsibility.

"We believe that our preferential hiring process, community service initiatives and direct donations to nonprofit organizations will help us achieve our goal of making a positive impact on our community."

The delivery service will work with several Connecticut pot retail operations, which all became legal after recently passed state legislation went into effect at the start of the year.

Those retailers include Fine Fettle, Curaleaf, Still River Wellness and soon-to-be Higher Collective stores.

The operation marks an unusual twist in the cannabis ritual prior to legalization, where recreational users would order a food delivery after consumption.

Later his month, they'll be able to order out for their marijuana first.

"We are thrilled to have Green Coach Delivery as the first adult-use cannabis delivery service in Connecticut," said Patrik Jonsson, chief executive officer of Higher Collective.

"Jack’s commitment to social responsibility and community service is a model for the industry, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have on our state."

In his coaching and education career, Cochran won eight state high school football championships at Bloomfield and New London high schools in the late 1990s/early 2000s.

For now, instead of looking for top-notch gridiron stars, Cochran is looking for drivers to make those deliveries and the Green Coach Delivery website has an easy-to-use application process.
