Gifts of Love Goes for an Ace with Their 5th Annual Golf Tournament

(AVON, CONN) – March 3, 2025 - The winter weather might still be looming, but at Gifts of Love, a non-profit dedicated to providing food, clothing, and essential support to Greater Hartford families experiencing short-term financial hardship, it’s green grass and sunny skies as they prepare for their 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament. The organization returns to the impeccable Golf Club of Avon on Monday, May 19th, 2025, where registrants will have the opportunity to play one of New England’s finest courses while helping to fight food insecurity in the community.

“I’m honored to once again Chair the Golf Tournament Committee and help raise funds for such an important cause,” said Kathy Overbye, Gifts of Love Golf Tournament Committee Chair. “As a volunteer, I see first-hand just how vital the services provided by Gifts of Love are to the community, and the tournament plays a big part in sustaining our programs. Last year’s event was our most successful yet, and we anticipate year 5 to be even bigger and better!"

The 5th Annual Gifts of Love Golf Tournament promises to be a great day of golf for players of all levels, complete with coffee, lunch, access to the Hooker Brewery Draft Beer Truck and the Litchfield Distillery carts. Immediately following the competition, participants will have the opportunity to network during a cocktail hour and enjoy dinner at the clubhouse, while bidding on amazing live auction and raffle prizes. Not a golfer? Not a problem: Gifts of Love is offering “19th Hole” Dinner Tickets for those who would prefer to enjoy the views, dinner, and good company over picking up the golf clubs. For golfers eager for a little competition, there will be various on-course contests with prizes including a long drive and putting contest, as well as prizes for the winning foursome all to be given out during a special awards ceremony during dinner.

“We are excited to make this our best – and most successful – tournament yet so that we can support more people than ever through challenging times,” Kathy Overbye continued. “It has been a great joy to see this community come together in support of one another these last 4 years. It’s truly a special event.”
