Gourmet Restaurant Coming To Hands On Hartford

The nonprofit social services organization is opening a gourmet restaurant in its Hartford shelter.

HARTFORD, CT — A new gourmet restaurant will open in a Hartford day shelter and soup kitchen, The Hartford Courant reported. Gather 55 will open at Hands on Hartford at 55 Bartholomew Ave.

The projected opening date is Oct. 5.

The project is by Tyler Anderson, owner of acclaimed Simsbury restaurant Millwrights. A Hands on Hartford official said they will serve anyone, "no matter how much you pay or if you can't pay anything at all," according to The Hartford Courant.

The projected cost of dinner, including an appetizer, entree, and dessert, and the suggested price will be $35. Breakfast and lunch will also be served, and snacks, coffee, and smoothies will also be available.

Gather 55 will have new tables, panels, along with more artwork and improved lighting, according to WFSB 3-TV.

Reservations will be needed and spots will be left open for those who can't afford to pay.

Hands on Hartford told WFSB 3-TV that the new venture is their way of connecting communities and creating inclusivity.
