Gov. Malloy's Approval Rating: He Should Be Worried by New Report
A survey by Morning Consult shows Malloy's numbers could spell trouble. The opposite is true for the governor of the state to the north.

HARTFORD, CT - Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy is the nation's second most disliked governor, according to a new report by Morning Consult.
Malloy's current numbers are so bad, he is disliked by the state's residents more than beleaguered Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is disliked by his constituency. And Snyder's in the midst of grappling with a little thing called the Flint Water Crisis.
"Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy, whose state has experienced job losses to neighboring Massachusetts, is the second-least popular governor in the country and the least popular Democrat," writes Morning Consult. "His approval is 29 percent, while 64 percent of voters in the Nutmeg State disapprove of his performance."

Morning Consult says that between the months of January to early May, it surveyed more than 66,000 voters from all 50 states to come up with the ranking. "The data was weighed using the U.S. Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey. Sample sizes varied from state to state based on their population."
So far, 2016 has not been kind to Malloy.

General Electric announced it was packing up and moving from Fairfield to Boston, MA, and it was revealed that Connecticut's budget deficit is exploding. The latter has resulted in the layoffs of dozens of state employees, and prompted talk of potential tax increases.
But while Malloy is treading in choppy waters, Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker, by comparison, appears to be basking in the sunlight, drinking a celebratory Samuel Adams.
"Republicans take eight of the spots on the list of 10 most popular governors," writes Morning Consult. "Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker is America's most popular governor, and he is followed very closely by fellow Republican Larry Hogan of Maryland. Delaware's Jack Markell is the country's most popular Democratic governor."
Baker's current numbers are astounding. His approval rating stands at 72 percent, while his disapproval rating is only 16 percent.
