Greater Hartford Theater Week Returns Oct. 1, Deals To Be Had On Shows

HARTFORD/WEST HARTFORD, CT — Theatergoers will have two weeks to catch discounted performances, special events, and behind-the-scenes experiences when Greater Hartford Theater Week returns in October.

The Greater Hartford Arts Council is organizing the celebration, which runs Oct. 1-15 and brings together five theaters in Hartford and West Hartford.

The event is designed to encourage audiences to explore the region's live performance scene while also visiting area restaurants, museums, and other attractions.

Four participating theaters are offering buy-one, get-one-free tickets to select performances using the promotional code THEATERWEEK26: The Bushnell, Hartford Stage, TheaterWorks Hartford, and Playhouse on Park.

HartBeat Ensemble is participating with sliding-scale pricing and does not require the promotional code.

The participating theaters are:

• The Bushnell, which is featuring Theater Week programming including The Great Gatsby, Dan and Phil: Hard Launch World Tour, Cheyenne Jackson: That Guy From That Thing, and the Immersive Arts Festival.
• Hartford Stage, which is participating with eligible performances during Theater Week. Its production of Dracula begins Oct. 9.
• TheaterWorks Hartford, which is presenting Samuel D. Hunter's Little Bear Ridge Road, running Oct. 8 through Nov. 8. Its Theater Week BOGO offer applies Oct. 13-18, and a Pizza and Beer/Talkback Tuesday event is scheduled for Oct. 13.
• HartBeat Ensemble is presenting Athol Fugard's A Lesson from Aloes Oct. 8-17 at Trinity College's Austin Arts Center. Seats are free with an optional donation.
• Playhouse on Park in West Hartford, which is offering BOGO tickets to eligible performances.

Theater Week isn't limited to performances.

The arts council is promoting backstage tours, conversations with actors and other artists, readings, workshops, and other events intended to give audiences a closer look at how productions are created.

Hartford Stage is offering backstage experiences and its "Scene & Heard" programming, while TheaterWorks is promoting its TWtalks conversations.

Organizers are also encouraging visitors to make a day or night of their theater trip by combining performances with restaurants, museums and other Greater Hartford destinations.

An online city guide, Hartford.com, provides information about dining, hotels, transportation and parking near participating venues.

The arts council is also holding a Greater Hartford Theater Week Giveaway.

Five winners will receive packages featuring dinner and a show, while one grand-prize winner will receive a season-ticket bundle.

No purchase is required, and winners are scheduled to be notified by email on Oct. 19.
