Gubernatorial Candidate Forum in Hartford

Create the Vote CT to host first statewide public gubernatorial candidate forum on Tuesday, July 31, in New Haven

Hartford Stage one of dozens of arts and cultural co-sponsors raising awareness among voters and candidates for governor

Hartford, CT, July 19, 2018 – Create the Vote CT will host its first statewide public gubernatorial candidate forum about arts, culture, and the future of Connecticut's economy on Tuesday, July 31 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Arts, Culture, & the Future of CT’s Economy: Gubernatorial Candidate Forum will be held at the Cooperative Arts & Humanities (Co-Op) High School, located at 177 College Street in New Haven. The venue will open at 4 p.m. for networking, music and drinks.

Hartford Stage is a co-sponsor of Create the Vote CT, a nonpartisan public educational campaign created by the CT Arts Alliance and the CT Alliance for Arts Education, to raise awareness and support for the arts among voters and candidates running for public office. Hartford Stage is among dozens of Connecticut arts, cultural, and creative institutions and leaders co-sponsoring the campaign.

Create the Vote CT seeks to educate the candidates for governor about arts and culture and the impact the industry has on the state of Connecticut. This forum will enable candidates from all political affiliations to speak directly to the public about how the arts and arts education can strengthen the state. Questions will be based on an arts and culture questionnaire previously submitted to all candidates.

Candidates confirmed to attend the forum include Democrats Ned Lamont and Joseph Ganim, Republicans Tim Herbst and David Stemerman, Libertarian Rod Hanscomb, Independent Oz Griebel, and unaffiliated candidate Marisa Manley. Also invited to participate are Republicans Mark Boughton, Stephen Obsitnik and Bob Stefanowski, Independent Micah Welintukonis, and unaffiliated candidate Kameron Scott.

Arts, Culture, & the Future of CT’s Economy: Gubernatorial Candidate Forum is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, and registration is required online.

All interested voters and arts supporters can follow the Create the Vote CT campaign at www.ctartsalliance.org and are urged to get involved by signing up for the Create the Vote CT email list, following the Connecticut Arts Alliance on Facebook and Twitter and helping to promote the campaign with the hashtag #CreatetheVoteCT.
