Hartford-Area Rehab Hospital Earns Key Accreditation

HARTFORD, CT — A prominent healthcare facility in Hartford recently earned a major piece of certification, cementing itself as a major player in patient recovery.

Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospitalhas earned a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its adult and adolescent rehabilitation inpatient, stroke specialty, and brain injury inpatient programs, the accrediting body announced Feb. 18.

The Hartford-based facility, located at 490 Blue Hills Ave., is the largest provider of acute inpatient rehabilitation services in Connecticut.

The latest award marks the third consecutive three-year accreditation from CARF for the hospital’s Adult and Adolescent Rehabilitation Inpatient and Stroke Specialty Rehabilitation programs, and the second three-year accreditation for its Brain Injury Rehabilitation program.

CARF accreditation represents the highest level of recognition a rehabilitation organization can receive and indicates substantial conformance to CARF standards.

To earn the three-year designation, Mount Sinai underwent a peer review process and on-site survey evaluating whether its programs are measurable, accountable, and focused on quality improvement.

CARF, founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, is an independent, nonprofit accreditor that establishes consumer-focused standards for health and human service organizations.

Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital is a licensed chronic disease hospital certified by the Joint Commission and Medicare as an acute rehabilitation hospital.
