Hartford Convicted Felon Sentenced On Gun Charges

A Hartford man was sentenced on federal charges recently.

HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford man has been sentenced to 5 years and 11 months in prison for illegal possession of a loaded gun, according to a statement from federal prosecutors. Anthony Pena, 26, will also serve three years of supervised release.

Investigators said they found Pena on June 24, 2018 in the area of 862 Albany Ave. in a parked vehicle with a loaded Glock 21 .45 caliber gun with an extended magazine containing 20 rounds, and a backpack that contained a magazine with 10 rounds, a quantity of marijuana, and $1,420 in cash.

The gun had been reported stolen in North Carolina in 2012. Pena has a previous conviction from 2012 for first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery.

He pleaded guilty to the weapons charges July 17, 2019, according to the statement.
