Hartford Councilman Accused Of Stealing From Church: Reports

HARTFORD, CT — A 27-year-old man serving on the city's highest governing organization has been charged with embezzling from his church.
WFSB Channel 3 reports that Hartford City Councilman Alexander Thomas, a minority leader, serving as a member of the Working Families Party.
He is also an associate pastor at the South Church in Hartford, which is where WFSB reported that he embezzled money from the church, which is located at 277 Main St., Hartford.

According to Fox 61, the Hartford Police Department Thomas is accused of funneling church cash to a shell company and then his personal bank account.
Thomas has been charged with money laundering and larceny and his bond was $250,000, Fox 61 reported.
