Hartford Deputy Police Chief Accidentally Fired Gun In Office

An investigation is underway after a Hartford deputy police chief unintentionally fired her gun while in the public safety complex.

HARTFORD, CT — A deputy police chief unintentionally fired her gun in her office in the public safety complex, The Hartford Courant reported. An internal investigation is now underway.

Deputy Chief of Administrative Services Sonia Watson fired the gun when she was securing it while leaving work Wednesday night.

Watson has been with the capital city police force since 2003. She was placed on restricted duty and will have to retrain in firearms this week.

No one was injured. A department spokesperson told The Hartford Courant that disciplinary action may be taken.
