HARTFORD, Conn., Nov. 13, 2020 – Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity will host a virtual dedication ceremony on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m. for its most recent housing rehabilitation project. The property, located on Vineland Terrace in Hartford, was completed in partnership with Travelers and will be presented to its new family just in time for the holidays.
“To own my own home is an opportunity that I have dreamed about my entire life,” said Destiny Asberry, who will move into the house on Vineland Terrace with her son and mother. “Hartford Habitat, you have been here for so many families, and I am proud to now be a part of the movement.”

By working with town officials and sponsors, Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity creates affordable homeownership for low-to-moderate-income families and buildsstronger, viable communities. The house on Vineland Terrance had been left abandoned for many years, but with funding from Travelers, the home was restored to welcome a new generation in an established neighborhood. Travelers has a long history of partnering with Habitat for Humanity, and its employees typically volunteer their time to help build homes.
“We are proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity, and we wish the Asberry family a successful future in their new home,” said Erin Haberman, Senior Director of Community Relations and Second Vice President of the Travelers Foundation. “We’re deeply invested in our communities, and see how the construction of Habitat homes has a positive impact on more than just one family – it helps entire neighborhoods thrive.”
