Hartford Has 8 Places To Chill Out
City announces the opening of several cooling centers Tuesday in libraries and senior centers.
HARTFORD, CT — City residents have multiple options to cool off in Hartford if they need to during the ongoing heat wave this week.
Tuesday, the City of Hartford announced it will be opening cooling centers beginning Tuesday, July 19, and ending on Sunday, July 24.
The Hartford Fire Department is also handing out water to residents throughout the city.

“Starting today and continuing through the week, temperatures will be reaching highs in the mid-to-high 90s, so we will be opening our cooling centers throughout the city to help our residents stay safe and cool,” said Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin.
“We also want residents to remember to drink plenty of water before they go out and before they get thirsty. Please stay out of the sun during the hottest parts of the day, and please remember to check in on your loved ones and neighbors, especially young children and seniors, who may be particularly affected by the heat.”

Hartford cooling centers are at:
• Downtown Library; 500 Main St.; Tuesday through Thursday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Albany Library; 1250 Albany Ave.; Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Barbour Library; 261 Barbour St.; Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and
Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Camp Field Library; 30 Campfield Ave.; Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Dwight Library; 7 New Park Ave.; Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and
Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Park Street Library @ the Lyric; 603 Park St.; Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and
Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• North End Senior Center; 80 Coventry St.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• South End Wellness Senior Center; 830 Maple Ave.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
