Hartford Hospital hosts blood drive Feb. 2 and 3
Sign-ups available to donate blood, supply is low
Hartford Hospital is hosting a blood drive on Feb. 2 and 3. With blood supplies low, organizers are hoping people will come out to donate. Hospitals and patients rely upon a steady flow of volunteer donors for life-saving blood donations.
After the holidays can be a difficult time for blood supply, with lowered donations and an increase in trauma incidents, the blood centers are having trouble keeping up with demand.
The blood drive is part of a continuing partnership with the Connecticut Blood Center, which is affiliated with the Rhode Island Blood Center.

It only takes one hour to donate, and a single donation can save multiple lives. Roughly one in seven hospital admissions require a blood transfusion. Those in need include: cancer patients, accident, burn, or trauma victims, transplant recipients, surgery patients, chronically transfused patients suffering from sickle cell disease or thalassemia, and many more.
