HARTFORD, CT — A 28-year-old Hartford man is dead after state police said he crashed his motorcycle into another vehicle on Interstate 84 in Hartford Wednesday evening.

Jose Guillermo Torres, 28, of Edwards Street, Hartford, was pronounced dead at Hartford Hospital following the 6:14 p.m. crash, Connecticut State Police said in an accident report released Thursday morning.

According to the accident report, a 2001 GMC Sierra being driven by a 44-year-old Hartford man was traveling on I-84 west, just past Exit 50, in the right lane of two.

Traveling behind the GMC, police said, was a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle being operated by Torres.

According to police, the motorcycle, "for an unknown reason," then collided with the rear of the GMC.

This, police said, threw Torres off the motorcycle and his body came to an "uncontrolled rest" in the right shoulder of I-84.

The motorcycle continued further on I-84 and crashed into a light pole on the right shoulder, according to the report.

Following the collision, the GMC operator pulled over and parked in the right shoulder, with neither the driver or three passengers reporting any injuries, police said.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene, police said.

The accident is still under investigation, according to the accident report.
