Hartford Man Found Guilty Of 2020 Wethersfield Avenue Shooting
A Hartford man has been found guilty of several crimes related to the shooting of a Manchester Man in 2020.
HARTFORD/MANCHESTER, CT — A jury has found a Hartford man guilty of the 2020 shooting of a Manchester man.
Hartford Judicial District State’s Attorney Sharmese L. Walcott said that a Superior Court jury Monday found 34-year-old Jermaine Rose of Hartford, guilty of first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit.
The conviction stems from a March 16, 2020 shooting in Hartford that wounded 45-year-old Manchester resident Mark Thompson.

According to case records, on the afternoon of March 16, 2020, Police responded to 25 Wethersfield Ave. in Hartford and found Thompson with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Hartford Hospital.
Witnesses testified that before the shooting, Thompson left his place of employment for the Wethersfield Avenue address after receiving a call regarding "a domestic situation" involving children, according to case records. One there, he was told by Rose, "Wait 'til I get you alone," and Thompson was eventually shot in the leg and Rose fled the scene, according to case records.

During the trial, multiple law enforcement officers testified, as well as the emergency room physician who treated Thompson for the gunshot wound. Surveillance footage corroborated the Thompson's claim that he was shot by Rose, according to case records
Rose was described as a convicted felon who was prohibited from possessing a firearm or obtaining a pistol permit, according to case records.
Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 21, 2024, in Hartford Superior Court.
