Hartford Man Going Back To Prison For Credit Card Fraud
He obtained a credit card belonging to a prominent entertainer's business, according to the U.S. Attorney's office
HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford man was sentenced to 14 months in federal prison after he violated his supervised release following a credit card fraud scheme.
Jonathan Preston, 27, of Hartford obtained information on prominent entertains, athletes and others to gain access to their credit card accounts starting in 2010. He and others made more than $500,000 in unauthorized purchases and cash withdrawals. He was sentenced to 46 months in prison and was released in August 2017.
He was arrested again in February 2019 by Hartford Police on fraud, larceny and identity theft charges, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office. He obtained a credit card that belonged to a prominent entertainer's business and used it to make more than $13,000 in charges. State charges against him are pending.
