Hartford Man Killed in I-91 Collision

His car veered off the highway and was struck by a tractor trailer truck upon re-entering, according to police.

HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford man was killed Monday night after he lost control of his car, veered off Interstate 91 and was struck by a tractor trailer truck upon re-entering the highway, state police said.

Pedro Rivera, 42, of Capitol Ave., was driving northbound near exit 33 around 10:42 p.m. when he lost control of his Toyota Corolla and traveled onto the right grass shoulder, then veered back onto the highway, where the car was struck by a tractor trailer operated by Mariusz Zadlo, 45, of Chicago, according to a police report.

Rivera was transported to Hartford Hospital, where he died from injuries sustained in the crash, police said.

Zadlo was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call Trooper Darren Connolly at 860-534-1000.
