Hartford Man Sent To Prison For Dealing Fentanyl, Cocaine: Feds

He was sentenced on Tuesday, March 10, after pleading guilty to distributing fentanyl and cocaine in 2025.

HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford man will serve five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to trafficking fentanyl and cocaine in the Hartford area, federal prosecutors said.

Rafael Orlando Garcia, 35, of Hartford, was sentenced Wednesday to 60 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release by Sarala V. Nagala, a U.S. district judge in Connecticut, according to David X. Sullivan, U.S. attorney for the District of Connecticut.

Federal investigators identified Garcia, who has a prior federal conviction, as a significant narcotics trafficker operating in the Hartford area.

According to court documents, members of the FBI’s Northern Connecticut Gang Task Force conducted three controlled purchases of narcotics from Garcia between February and April 2025.

During those transactions, investigators bought approximately 36 grams of fentanyl and 28 grams of cocaine on Feb. 28; about 80 grams of fentanyl on March 12; and roughly 100 grams of fentanyl and 280 grams of cocaine on April 1, prosecutors said.

Garcia was arrested on April 8, 2025. He later pleaded guilty on Oct. 15, 2025, to multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute and distribution of fentanyl and cocaine, as well as offenses involving 40 grams or more of fentanyl.

Garcia, who is currently free on bond, has been ordered to report to prison on May 11.
