Hartford Man Sentenced In Gun Case: Feds

A man has been sentenced to federal prison for gun crimes, according to federal prosecutors.

HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford man has been sentenced to 33 months in prison for illegal gun possession, according to Leonard C Boyle, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. Jose Perez, 40, will also serve three years of supervised release.

A jury found Perez guilty in September of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

According to prosecutors, Hartford police responded to a ShotSpotter activation Nov. 13. 2016 and found a loaded revolver in a car registered to Perez. DNA analysis of the seized firearm indicated Perez had handled the gun.

Perez had has previous convictions for drug and burglary crimes. It is a violation of federal law for a person previously convicted of a felony offense to possess a firearm or ammunition that has moved in interstate or foreign commerce.
