A Hartford man was sentenced Tuesday for setting a house on fire after relatives confronted him about PCP use, according to a report.
HARTFORD, CT — A city man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for setting his family's house on fire after relatives confronted him regarding his PCP use, according to The Hartford Courant. Angel Ares, 37, was accused of setting fire to a mattress on a Brook Street home's porch in February 2018 while four children and eight adults were inside.
Everyone escaped the home, though Ares' mother suffered smoke inhalation.
The home was destroyed. The prosecution argued that Ares should receive a long prison sentence due to his prior criminal record.
