Hartford Man Shot Dead in City's North End
A man died in the city's 12th homicide of the year.

HARTFORD, CT — Police are investigating the shooting death of a Hartford man Thursday night in the city's North End.
At 8:22 p.m., patrol officers responded to Cleveland Avenue and Main Street for a 911 citizen report of shots fired and a male down on the ground. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm/upper torso area, Deputy Chief Brian Foley said in a written statement.
Officers rendered first aid, including CPR, until the arrival of AMR ambulance and the Hartford Fire Department. The victim was transported to Hartford Hospital where, a short time later, he was pronounced deceased, Foley said.

The victim has been identified as Joseph Jiles, 40, of 654 Garden Street.
The Major Crimes and Crime Scene Division responded and assumed the investigation.
