HARTFORD, CT— Parkville Market, Connecticut’s first food hall, is partnering with Barr Hill Gin to host another "Bartender Throwdown," a live cocktail competition in a quest to find out who makes the best gin drink in the region.

The event will be held Monday, Aug. 29, beginning at 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. upstairs at The Local (within Parkville Market, 1400 Park St.).

Bartenders are invited to submit their best gin recipes using Barr Hill Gin for a chance to be selected as one of 15 bartenders to compete in the throwdown.

First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded by a panel of judges who will choose the winners based on taste, creativity, presentation and use of spirit.

The mixers, garnishes and spirits will be provided by Parkville Market.

In addition to the Bartender Throwdown, Parkville Market is partnering with Barr Hill Gin and Stonewall Apiary to bring awareness to the important role bees play in the ecosystem.

As part of this collaboration, Parkville Market will be serving a Bee’s Knees, gin cocktail using Barr Hill Gin.

From Sept. 23 to Oct. 2, each time a guest posts and tags a photo of their Bee’s Knees cocktail on Facebook or Instagram, Barr Hill will plant a 10-foot-by-10-foot plot of wildflowers.

On Sunday, Sept. 24 from 2 to 6 p.m., Parkville will be moving the cocktails outdoors, Barr Hill will also be on the patio with plenty of swag and tastings, and Stonewall Apiary will be supplying an interactive bee installation.

Parkville Market is the first food hall in Connecticut, housed in the former Capitol City Lumber Co. Building in one of Hartford’s most up-and-coming neighborhoods.
