Hartford Obituary: Bernice Wright, 96

Bernice Taylor Wright, 96, of Windsor, beloved wife of the late Willie Wright passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born April 16, 1921 in Saluda, SC daughter of the late Ernest and Viola (Mathis) Taylor. She lived in Hartford before moving to Windsor 40 years ago. Prior to retiring, Bernice had been employed by Pratt & Whitney.

She was a long-time member of The First Cathedral in Bloomfield and was involved with many groups within the church over the years. Bernice enjoyed traveling whether to Jerusalem with the Church, Hawaii or visiting extended family throughout the U.S. She further enjoyed crafting at the Wilson Senior Center as well as playing bingo and her days at the Caring Connection in Windsor.

She is survived by her three daughters, Willie Mae Dillard, Betty Rankin, and Marie Wright; and a daughter-in-law, Ida Cowan-Wright; her eleven grandchildren, Van Anthony, Danielle, Troy, Nicole, Carl, Tammy, Christopher, Robert, Taurus, Gregory, and Siobhan; and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her three sons, Bernard Wright, Maurice Wright, and Willie Wright, Jr.

Her family would like to extend special thanks to all the staff at St. Francis Hospital and Masonicare for the care given to Bernice over her last days and weeks.

Her family will receive friends Monday, September 25, 2017 from 10-11 AM at The First Cathedral, 1151 Blue Hills Ave., Bloomfield followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM at The First Cathedral. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield.
