
Helena (Macner) Wolczanski, 97, beloved wife of the late Jan Wolczanski, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 6, 2017.
Born in Utica, NY on August 20, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Wojciech and Catherine (Biedrzycki) Macner. When Helena was a small child, her family moved to Rymanow, Poland. She was a strong, independent and resilient woman who lived many years in a war torn country.
She and her husband immigrated to Hartford in 1958 where they raised their two daughters. Helena worked on the factory floor at Wiremold in Hartford for 25 years. She was an active and devout parishioner of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford, where she made many friends.

Helena was an avid gardener and had a beautiful flower garden in her yard. She enjoyed singing and listening to music. Until her eyesight worsened, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and cooking. She was a teacher at heart and loved to teach these skills to her granddaughters when they were young.
A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Helena will be dearly missed by her daughter, Sophie Homicki of Manchester; two adored granddaughters, Elizabeth Homicki of New York, NY and Katherine Morrison and husband Jeffrey of Columbia, and her three cherished great-grandsons, Jaymeson, Kolton and Garrett Morrison, who loved their Babcia dearly and brought joy and happiness to her last years. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, W. Janet Lucca; grandson, Scott Lucca; brothers, Walter Macner and Chester Macner; sister, Laura Koziol and niece, Janet Koziol.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (October 12) at 10 a.m. at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 63 Popielusko Court, Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
